QUAKE III ARENA TOUR BUS: CONTINUED...

LEO:

I expected Q3 to be nothing less than a crowd of over eager computer lovers trying to beat each other in the game they followed from the beginning and those that pray the Quake series as god. Unfortuneately, that's not the case when I went there. The line were less than 30 people, everyone seems to be at about the same level.

I started from my home thinking the meeting place for Q3 was at the Santa Anita Mall. When I got there, I saw nothing. I was lost. Thank goodness for Eric. He actually brought his pager that day. He left a message saying "It's at the race track!!!" I rush over there, hoping I'll find them right away and start kicking some Q3 butts. No one knew where the bus was at. We walked around and saw a guy with a Q3 T-shirt. We asked him and we found our way to the majestic Q3 bus. To the surprise of us all, the line was less than 20 people long. I was so excited. I may have a chance to win a Q3 T-shirt. My hopes were so high! I got second place twice and third place once. I thought I might at least get one. I went in there 5 or 6 times. Everytimes, I got at least 10 kills. Which sounds pretty good to me considering I didn't practice or play since summer. Still, it's not good enough. It was a fun day. I finally saw my friends that I haven't seen since summer. (Only a few month, but after being in Riverside. Everything seems like a Eternity).

Actually, my main reason for being back was to see all you guys again. Haven't seen or talk to any of ya for a while. Riverside is so boring, that I actually have been studying. I'm so ashamed. =P Still, Q3 was fun. Too bad there's no more chance to do it again. I'll drive for days without sleep to do it over again. =P Well, that's how I felt. Sorry for the delay. No internet connection in my room. Have to use the computer back at home. That and I'm kinda lazy. =P

CRUISE:

Lucky for us people near Santa Anita, the Q3 Bus was scheduled at the same place and time with the KROQ concert, which drew most of the attention :). On top of that, the Q3 Bus was located in the middle of nowhere, well, parking lot. It was a scorching hot 90-ish degree day, and the line for the bus consisted of maybe less than 10 people when I arrived. The 'bus' is not as large as the intimidating bright yellow school buses I picture when I approached it. There was a tent set up at the head of the bus, where they advertised for the game and the bus.

After I waited in line with my friends, it was time for the next 8 players to step into the bus to prove who is the greatest Q3 player in the world!!!! Well for that round anyway. Sitting at the over air conditioned briefing room of the bus, we were lectured by the id tech guy about Q3 and yada yada yada. New maps yada, new guns yada, and new skins yada. There were 2 new maps that no one had ever played before (unless you've been on this bus before), we had a chance to use the grenade launcher (not much difference, but took longer to explode), and there was also new items such as the invisibility (quite hard to detect the invisible I might add). Then there are the new skins, Athena and Orbb. Orbb is this eyeball that manuevers with its arms and legs and is quite annoying after a while. Now Athena, I was told during the briefing that she was the product of the chicks and the monster at the end of Q2. Interesting...

Well, I'm not gonna go into how I played and how I sucked. Just know that I had a great time fraggin those newbies poppin' their heads with grenades. Leo-san and I tied for 2nd place once, one more frag and the Q3 T-shirt would of been mine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *Rip hair* Oh well, I don't care :(. Overall, it's something you can only do once, so catch it before the tour ends!!!

The End!
